Popcorn Blitz Night

On Monday we walked from house to house in the neighborhood and sold popcorn. Stephen and James walked on Winnetka and got yelled at in spanish by some guy and Stephen lost his popcorn form while they were running away (or so he said). Parker tried to steal some of me and Andrew's houses so we went to the houses that he had not gone to yet and told them not to buy from him! He still made lots of sales. The troop sold lots of popcorn.

Fall Court of Honor

Monday was the Court of Honor. More than 80 merit badges were given out and about 80 people showed up. Joe made very good spaghetti with spicy and regular sauce. It was very good! He also made rolls and they were very good too! Charlie was awarded his last merit badge that he needed to become Eagle.

Caddo Lake

We went to Caddo Lake this past weekend. It was good to have our two newest scouts (Dakota and Holt) come along. canoed to Goat Island for lunch. There were lots of lillypads and that made it harder to paddle. We had to endure a lecture on proper grub mastering. We thought this was a boy led troop and we decide what we want. :)

On Monday we started our popcorn selling drive and worked again on the PF merit badge.

Tonight was our first meeting of the 2007/2008 scout year. We designed our new patrol flags. I finished up my Environmental Science merit badge with Mrs. Haley.

This afternoon we had our annual scout year kickoff BBQ. About 70 people showed up and ate burgers and sausages. Our scoutmaster and SPL announced our activities for the year.

Troop 5 Joins the Blogosphere

Trevor is the new Historian for Troop 5. He was as suprised as anyone when his name was called as Charlie introduced the new Scout Leadership at our annual kickoff barbeque a few weeks ago.

You might say that the position of Troop 5 Historian has taken a rather low profile over the past few years. Not sure what previous Historians have done, but maybe it was... uh, I don't know .... nothing?? Didn't really leave a legacy.

Leave it to dad to change all that. I decided that this Historian, and perhaps future Historians, should truly earn his position of responsibility. Trevor, Charlie, the key board is yours! A blog is born.
